A Walk to Remember…

Outline

Senior citizens after retirement are a bunch of excited individuals and children at heart filled with memories and spare time to share them. Their generation was before the digital generation and so they are filled with emotions shared through physical meetups.

Understanding their preference and helping in enhancing it through a simple digital platform to escalate physical meetups.

Want to hear a story?

Who better to tell you a story than our grandparents? Senior citizens have plenty of free time, stories to tell about their lives, and memories to cherish.

This is the story of three kids and their love for their grandparents.

So kids marched towards their grandparents and their friends to spend some time listening their stories...

As they sat, Grandpas and Grandmas shared bunch of memories and how the world has changed over the period of time. How they have difficulty adapting to the digital revolution and the age of smartphones.

“ आमचा नातू तर अमेरिकेत आहे. आम्हाला फार आठवण येते त्याची म्हणून हाच आमचा नातू ”

Our grandson lives in US and we miss him a lot! So this boy fills his shoes for us.

Emotions : Lonliness, Sadness

“ माणसाला सगळं आलं पाहिजे आणि शिकलेलं कधी वाया नाही जात ”

A skillset is never wasted in your life.

Emotions : The urge of sharing knowledge

“ सबको सब दिखता हैं, किसिपे भरोसा नहीं कर सकते। फ़ोन ही बेकार हैं। ”

If you share things online, people know and I feel that’s very unsafe. Smartphones are bad!

Emotions : Trust issues and unsafe world

“ WhatsApp वर चॅटींग करण्यापेक्षा मला पत्र लिहायला आवडतं”

I love writing letters to people instead of Whatsapp chatting.

Emotions : Grounded to cultural roots

“ फोन वर भेटणं पण काय भेटणं असतं का, प्रत्येक्षात भेटलं की मैत्री वाढते ”

Are we even meeting if we are meeting online, physical meetups are the ones we live for.

Emotions : loves to be surrounded by friends

After listening to their grandparents, they thought...

Indian senior citizens face social isolation due to technological barriers, limited access to suitable platforms, digital literacy challenges, and privacy concerns.

"How can we connect senior citizens, foster meaningful interactions, and combat loneliness and tech barriers?"

So after scratching their head for over a week they came up with the idea of...

Let’s make an app to escalate their physical meetups.

But what features to add?

Keeping their goal in mind, They came up with different features which can help the seniors interact more

Login through Mobile Number

Elderly without Google accounts can use phone numbers for better connection.

What's in your neighborhood?

To keep seniors informed about local activities, foster new skill sharing, and promote a sense of inclusion in society.

View Map

Get updates about the ongoing activities and check the feasible location

Language preferences.

To make they feel comfortable with the app and interact better.

What are your friends doing?

Seniors are motivated by peer actions, feeling included and enjoying companionship.

Letter writing

Giving the nostalgic experience of writing a feedback through a letter experience to make user feel relatable to them.

Host your own event?

This would encourage them to make new friends and to socialize with their neighbourhood.

Neighborhood Shows

Youngsters use Book My Show, but seniors struggle and miss out on plays and musicals.

App will make them go beyond neighborhood...

And the Interface will look like…

A Walk to Remember

yaadein

A digital intervention that encourages physical meetings.

Setting context through storyboarding for clear understanding.

Created copy and visuals in an interactive, conversational experience for easy communication.

If the user selects to explore activities, we provide two options for easy selection. “Neighborhood” or “Friends”

help them to make easy choice.

Details of the event are provided like date, time, location and about the event.

Also map view is provided to help understand easily the distance from their house.

If they liked the event they can write a letter to the host giving them a feedback.

We implemented letters to give them a nostalgic experience in a digital format.

We also added a feature of “Shows” which will be in partnership to particular platforms like BookmyShow to provide information on theatre and movies.

Information of the show will be provided and all rights will be reserved from particular platform partnered with.

If the seniors wish to invite people over, they can Host an event...

By keeping 3-4 main features we kept it very simple to understand and tried not to overwhelm the user with intense features very hard to understand at their age.
